Featuring a $16 million comprehensive renovation by the renowned golf course architects of Jacobsen Hardy Golf Course Design, Moody Gardens Golf Course, formerly the Galveston Municipal Golf Course, ranks #17 of 50 Houston-area public courses. The course takes advantage of the natural landscape of water, brush, sand, and over 500 palm trees to create a beautiful setting with just enough challenge to give you a fair test of your golfing skills. Whether you’re on the first tee, the final approach of the 18th hole, or the nearly 6,500 yards in between, you’ll find this seaside course to be player-friendly, with 5 sets of tees to accommodate all playing abilities.
Sign up now for the Subsea Survey IRM 2010 Golf Tournament to start the conference with a relaxing networking opportunity – and have some fun along the way. Here’s some tips we’ve learned about this course…
The front nine is relatively straight, posing mostly open and contoured fairways – with 3 par 3’s and 3 par 5’s. Number 7 is an interesting 584 yard par 5 that plays along the water and has a sharp dog leg right. You’ll need to be precise with your approach shot on #8 to avoid the water that surrounds ¾ of the green and the large bunker to the right of it. The back nine is narrower and requires more accuracy off the tee and there’s plenty of water of water on one or both sides of the fairways to keep things interesting. To end your outing on a high note, we suggest you drive #18 270 yards down the middle and finish with a 100 yard carry over water, stopping short of the bunkers on the left and back of the green.
